What happens when a matchmaker and podcast host who knows everything about love can’t seem to save his

own marriage? SETTLE DOWN, the new six-episode series which is set to start streaming on CBC Gem on June 20th, 2025 in celebration of Pride Month, will dive headfirst into the hilariously messy world of relationships, delivering equal parts heart and humour. Created by Canadian Screen Award nominee actor/writer Alexander Nunez (MOONSHINE/CBC) and brought to life by producer Charlie David (AVOCADO TOAST, DATING UNLOCKED) and a dynamic team of filmmakers at Border2Border Entertainment, this witty, emotional series promises to captivate audiences with its fresh take on queer love and modern dating. The show is also available on OUTtv and the OUTtv channels on Prime Video and AppleTV+.
At the heart of SETTLE DOWN, is Mason played by Alexander, a celebrated matchmaker and host of a wildly popular love advice podcast for which listeners can get answers to questions on all things "love". Mason’s matchmaking business is thriving—he helps clients from all walks of life find their perfect match with unmatched success. But while his professional life is soaring, his marriage to his husband Jarod (Leighton Alexander Williams) is on the brink of collapse. Between juggling demanding clients, podcast fame, and his own attachment issues, Mason’s struggle to find a work-life balance is threatening to taint his budding love empire beyond repair. Can he learn to get out of his own way and save his marriage before it’s too late?
The series offers a refreshing lens into the complexities of relationships, exploring themes like anxiety, commitment issues, and unconventional love. Each episode weaves together Mason’s personal journey with compelling client stories, showcasing the highs and lows of queer love. Supporting Mason are his close-knit friends Georgia (Tymika Tafari), Devon (Nadine Bhabha), and Ben (Izad Etemadi), whose antics and advice add humor and depth to the narrative. Together, they navigate a world where love is rarely perfect but always worth fighting for.
"I created Settle Down to help people feel more seen in the beautifully messy, funny, and complicated reality of relationships,” said series creator and star Alexander Nunez. “I hope viewers gain a deeper appreciation for how relationships shape us—challenging our attachment styles, our sense of self, and everything in between. My wish is for everyone to see themselves in these characters, to laugh with them, and to find comfort in their shared struggles. I can’t wait for people to experience the show and connect with the stories we’ve poured our hearts into."
The show premiered on OUTtv this past Valentine’s Day. SETTLE DOWN is more than just a show about love—it’s a celebration of connection, resilience, and the hilarious missteps we take along the way. Join Mason and his clients as they stumble toward their happily-ever-afters, reminding us all that figuring things out is half the fun.
SETTLE DOWN is directed by Sam Coyle and produced by Charlie David with cinematography by Cam Roden, production design by Kristina Divic, and editing by Anna Catley and Arielle Skolnik.
