  Drag Heals Seasons 1-4

DRAG HEALS is a hybrid stage workshop and documentary TV series (32x 30min) that follows drag artists over an intensive month long workshop to build their own show. In each workshop, a guest coach joins stage director Tracey Erin Smith in exploring soul-deep story sharing techniques as well as the unique talents and skills required from a drag performer.

Over the course of the intensive workshops and story crafting, the participants dive deep into their personal lives to unearth lessons learned and bring them back to the audience as a gift. They are both the pirate and the pirated, the island and treasure. The resulting stories are emotional and cathartic, both for the drag artists and the audience who share in the experience.

The series has recently been nominated for two 2024 Canadian Screen Awards from Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television | l’Académie canadienne du cinéma et de la télévision for Best Lifestyle Program or Series and Tracey Erin Smith for Best Host.

I love this series. Such a charming and uplifting show. I love the variety of drag and drag artists represented. I love this celebration of the art form. It captures how meaningful drag can be as an art and as a form of self-expression. In particular, Daniel's improv bit on anxiety was powerful, and the idea that drag can capture deep meaningful parts of the human experience and allow the artist to share that with an audience is powerful. Great concept, great show. Definitely glad I watched it!

It exceeded expectations and they were incredibly high. Fans of Ru Paul's Drag Race will get to see a much more realistic behind the scenes exploration of drag and most importantly, what the performers get out of it, what they put into it and how they develop their drag persona. Parts of this are heartbreaking, but just like season one ultimately the feelings you are left with are admiration for the bravery of the performers, empowerment to reach for your own dreams and just a great feeling about the resilience and creativity of your fellow humans.

A glorious Series that I am glad I didn’t miss out on. I highly recommend this to anyone who needs their spirit lifted. I also recommend this to anyone who wants a better understanding of the world outside the “cis gender norms” and this is coming from a cis gendered female.
